Sports Center Gymnasium Bleacher Replacement & Floor Refinishing
Project Number: ECSU 2020-5
Project Description:
The work involves the installation of new bleachers, refinishing the gym floor, and renovating the press box.
Summary of Work includes but is not limited to the following:
1. Refinishing gymnasium floor, including patching, repair, sanding, removal of existing finish, lines and logos, and refinishing with new stains, game lines, logos, 2 coats of sealer, and 2 coats of floor finish.
2. Remove existing bleachers and replace with new telescopic bleachers as shown in drawings fully automated with motor driven system for opening and closing bleachers. Repair or repaint any damaged areas exposed by bleacher reconfiguration. New bleachers to include stairs and landings to existing press box. Provide necessary electrical connections for new bleachers.
3. Renovate the existing press box, including new doors, door hardware, finish floor, countertop, built-in cabinets, maintenance repainting, and electrical work.
The project is estimated to be over $50,000 and is therefore subject to bonding requirements.
This project is estimated to be over $100,000 for renovation or $1,000,000 for new construction and is therefore subject to prevailing wage rates.
This bid is subject to Pre-Qualification of Contractors Pursuant to CGS. ss4a-100 for one of the following: General Building Construction (Group A or higher), Floor Covering. Contractors to provide a good faith effort to include Connecticut Registered Small Business Set-Aside subcontractor participation, and subcontractors that are women and minority owned.
This project does not exceed Threshold Limits, however this project may be subject to review and inspection by the Department of Construction Services and the State Fire Marshal.
There will be a MANDATORY pre-bid conference on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the facilities conference room, 2nd floor, facilities building, Charter Oak Road, Willimantic, CT. Late arrivals of 10 minutes or more will not be given credit for attendance or allowed to sign in.

Sealed proposals will be received in Gelsi-Young Hall Rm 344, Eastern Road, Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic, CT 06226 until 2:00 p.m. on the date shown above.
The successful qualified low bidder on this project must submit an Affirmative Action Plan. The plan must be filed within fifteen days after a bid has been accepted by the awarding agency.
The awarding authority reserves the right to waive technical defects or to reject any and all bids.
